Project Selection - Decision
I have decided that I would make a magazine instead of a film, the biggest reason as to why is because I have prior knowledge and experiences that can help me more so in making a magazine instead of a film. In a magazine I already have a familiarity with design software like Photoshop ad Illustrator from my 2 years of digital design, I even had to make a magazine cover in illustrator as one of my projects so that prior experience will significantly help in the making of my magazine. Where as in making a film I have have no prior knowledge or experiences that can help me in the overall process of making a film. Another reason I went with the magazine project is that I already have more creative freedom in the making of my magazine. Since I already have a knowledge in Photoshop I can do a lot more in it than compared to a film, I can do more complicated actions and just have a wider range of options for what I could do when making the magazine. One last reason is that it takes less coordination with other members in order to make a magazine, in a film you have to set a shoot where not only are all the members are available but are also near the location where we plan to film which can be disrupted by bad weather and other factors. In a magazine though you don't have to meet with any of the other members to make changes to the magazine and makes schedules more malleable.

Project Selection - Film
what could interest me into making a film rather than a magazine would be a lot more freedom in what I could make and how to approach it. While there are conventions like any sort of media you can still make an entertaining movie if you take unorthodox methods that can make your movie unique or have a style, like Quentin Tarantino's non-linear approach to story telling so you typically have more freedom in how you want to approach your film. Another benefit to making a film would be that it doesn't take as much technical skill in order to edit a film, you just need to know how to cut your video and add text which can be done by the simplest of editing programs. One last benefit is that since the editing can be done by any program, I can work on it anywhere as every Windows computer comes with Windows Movie Maker for free while Photoshop requires a membership to access it and requires you to have a laptop in order to work on it in any location. Now one issue I will come across if I decide to make a film would be the mise-en-scene, in order to make the setting to make sense I have to move furniture, buy or make my own props, get clothing that fits with the setting, find a time where all my actors are available, survey locations that is nearby all the actors, and even the possibility of not shooting at all if the weather is unfavorable. There can also be an issue of stabilization. We don't have access to high cost video equipment so we could deal with an issue of the film shaking, but it can be worked around as some indie film makers have shown that it is possible to make a film with a stable camera even if they were only using their phone to record.

Project Selecion - Magazine
What might interest me in print journalism would be the idea of formatting the magazine and organizing the information. Trying to make a appealing picture after putting all the pieces together. The aspect of making the magazine look right while being filled with different kinds of information intrigues me the most. What also intrigues me is the creativity you can have, you can format any part of the magazine (text, fonts, colors, etc.) in any way you want if it conveys information to reader. One thing that can really make this project built for me, is that I took 2 years of digital design. Those two years of design class helped me gain a better understanding on what makes something look good and what doesn't and would help a lot in formatting my magazine. Those 2 years of digital design also helped me learn how to use Photoshop and other design software which is commonly used for magazines, so I know how to use programs that are built for the design of magazines and various other products. A struggle I will encounter would be a general lack of editing software, as adequate programs such as Photoshop or InDesign require a monthly payment in order to use their programs. This issue also isn't helped by the fact that there isn't a lot of good design software that is free while also being reliable, either by being slow to run or having very limited options in what I could do.
